PLATFORMIZATION OF EDUCATION AND THE EMPTYING OF THE SOCIAL FUNCTION OF THE SCHOOL: NOTES ON PARANÁ (2019–2024)

Abstract

This article analyzes the platformization of education as an expression of neoliberal rationality and digital capitalism, acting as a governance device that reconfigures public schools. Its objective is to examine the advance of platformization in public education in Paraná between 2019 and 2024. In the empirical field, the study focused on the Escola Digital Paraná portal (SEED-PR), which brings together internal initiatives of the state network and integrates privately developed platforms. The research, of qualitative nature, is based on historical-critical pedagogy and focuses on bibliographic and documentary production, understood as instruments of pedagogical reorganization and legitimation of public-private partnerships. In the educational scenario, requirements of planning and rationalization are established, triggered by official pedagogy, which included the completion of forms and the operationalization of educational objectives. Productions of APP-Sindicato were also considered, denouncing the impacts of platformization on teaching autonomy and the social role of schools. The results indicate that the massive incorporation of platforms, intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic, consolidated an educational management model oriented by business logics and metrics. It is concluded that the platformization of education is neither neutral nor inevitable, but the result of political and economic choices that express hegemonic disputes, putting public schools at risk as a common good and a space for social emancipation.
