Assistant technology in the inclusion of students with disabilities in the school environment: a systematic review
Keywords:
Assistive Technology, School Inclusion, People with DisabilitiesAbstract
Given the growing number of students with disabilities present in schools today, inclusion needs to be something real and solid. To achieve this, one of the fundamentally important tools for achieving an inclusive act is through the use of Assistive Technology (AT). The objective of this research is to investigate how the use of Assistive Technology influences the development of students with disabilities in the educational environment. To this end, a systematic review of selected studies was carried out over a period of one decade: 2012 to 2021 in the Eric, IEEE Xplore and Scopus databases. 501 articles were found and at the end of the filtering process that used inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 works were selected. With the analysis of the selected articles, it was possible to realize that the use of Assistive Technology is necessary in the process of inclusion of students with disabilities, as through it it is likely that students will be more autonomous and achieve success in the learning process, but barriers still persist regarding the high value of these tools and the lack of teacher training for the propagation of knowledge and the constant practice of using AT.
