Abstract

The present text, with a qualitative approach, is part of a master's research in which the study object is the continuing education for Art teachers, qualified to teach theater and dance and working in schools of the Municipal School's Network of Campo Grande - MS. The methods used for the investigation were bibliographic research, document research and field research. The narrative interview conducted with five Art teachers resulted in the organization of the material collected in three major thematic areas, which are the versatility, physical space and work of the Art teacher qualified to teach theater and dance. The reflections on continuing education start from the teachers' narrative, from the problems and challenges they present. Continuing education is thought of as enabling meetings between the education department, the university, art teachers and school managers, in order to discuss the three thematic axes resulting from the analysis of the narrative interview conducted with the teachers. The promotion of continuing education meetings allows the possible ways of overcoming the problems narrated by the teachers, which have existed for a long time in the history of art teaching, to be debated and considered. More than seeking a solution to existing problems, this proposal aims to articulate and promote more spaces for discussion, believing that possible means of coping (effective and coherent) arise as a result of reflection, planning, expanded comprehension, mutual listening and commitment actions of everyone involved.
