Dentists' knowledge assessment of dental trauma and campaign impact

Abstract

The aims of this study were to evaluate the knowledge of dentists about dental trauma and the impact of the clarification campaign. This is a longitudinal and descriptive study, where the knowledge of dentists was evaluated through the application of a questionnaire that contained professional information and different situations of dental trauma for them to respond. Data were collected in two stages being before the lecture and after the lecture. For statistical analysis, the G test was used with significance level of 5%. Most professionals were general practitioners, most of which had already had experience with dental trauma, however, when the statistical analysis performed only three situations demonstrated significant statistical differences. Since this, we concluded that the professionals had satisfactory knowledge, with reservations, however the lecture did not prove to be the best method for clarification in these cases.
