Relationship between noise levels, productivity and use of PPE in a small footwear company
Keywords:
noise, productivity, time studyAbstract
The effects of noise on health and productivity represent environmental and occupational issues for organizations, which can be mitigated by awareness of the importance and adoption of personal protective equipment (PPE). However, the analysis of noise levels and the use of said equipment are neglected in micro and small enterprises (MSE’s). The present study aimed to identify the relationship between noise levels and productivity in a small footwear company, in which two time studies were conducted: with and without the use of hearing protective devices. The result showed that noise levels have a negative effect on productivity and the existence of a real and significant difference in the operator’s productivity with and without the use of PPE.
