This study aimed to evaluate the effect of planting spacing in production and dendrometric variables in experimental planting improved seeds of the species E. benthamii, at six years of age. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications of twenty trees. The treatments were four spacings: 3 x 2, 3 x 3, 4 x 3 and 4 x 4m. After the procedures in the field (forestry inventory, sampling and cubage of 79 trees), were obtained the main dendrometric parameters in each spacing. The heights were determined by hypsometric relation and the volume of other trees of the stand was estimated by Schumacher- Hall model. After the statistical assumptions, ANOVA was carried out to evaluate the dendrometric variables (DBH, total height, cross-sectional area , basal area, volume.arv -1, volume.ha-1) and treatment average were compared by testing Tukey. The correlations between dendrometric variables and vital space were evaluated from the linear correlation coefficient of Pearson, the 95% level of probability. In general, the dendrometric variables were highly correlated with the spacing. The wider spacings favored the diameter, height, cross-section area and individual volume, while smaller vital spaces were responsible for the higher values of basal area and volume per hectare. Production ranged from 238.90 m³. ha- 1 in the greater spacing and 392.08 m³. ha-1 in smaller spacing. It was concluded that there was effect of spacing, observing some trends on these variables and forestry production.
