Abstract

The bacterium Escherichia coli pathogenic are responsible for causing health problems in animals, including avian colibacillosis. This disease presents multifactorial causes and several symptomatologies, such as: chronic respiratory disease, omphalitis, salpingitis, septicemia, peritonitis, swollen head syndrome, enteritis and cellulitis. The present study has aimed to report clinical findings of three slaughtered birds in a nursery in the city of Primavera do Leste - MT, through the evaluation of anatomopathological aspects by necropsy and isolation in Gram-negative selective culture medium, such as E. coli. The evaluation verified the occurrence of hepatic necrosis, presence of secretion in the medial portion of the trachea of catarrhal consistency, besides cellulitis with evolution to abscess. Bacteriological tests resulted in the isolation of Gram-negative colonies with positive lactose fermentation, which allow to characterize the presence of enterobacteria, which include E. coli.
