Abstract

Cleft lip and palate are congenital orofacial anomalies that affect the middle third of the face, caused during the fusion of the maxillary bones. The treatment is long and requires a wide variety of professionals working in an integrated manner. An integrative review of the literature was carried out on teams working in the treatment of cleft lip and palate in the last 20 years. The descriptors were used: cleft palate (AND) cleft lip (AND) interdisciplinary health team (AND) patients, in Portuguese and English, in the databases: Medline/PubMed; Bireme and SciELO, from 2001 to 2021. Different formations and actions were observed, which cover patients with cleft lip and palate differently. Although interdisciplinary teams are proven necessary and effective in the treatment of cleft patients, they present difficulties for their implementation and development in heterogeneous countries and regions.
